GUS

A 256 page account of the murder by Gus Edmondson of his wife in what is probably the most bizarre murder I ever heard of, and his hanging at Somerville, Alabama in the year of 1887. This also deals with the Morgan County, Alabama Poor House, the place of last resort for the elderly poor, the sick, and the otherwise needy, and it concludes with the introduction to the Edmondson Fire, where Gus’ cousin apparently killed his wife, his mother, and two children, then burned the farm buildings down to hide the crime. There is also a pictorial section, with pictures taken by the author of key places and people in these stories.
